Vince Neil's Family Organizes Charity Event for Aurora Theater Shooting

Help continues to pour in to help the families of the 12 people killed in the Aurora theater shooting and all those that were hurt. That includes a benefit concert planned this weekend (8/12/12) at the Grizzly Rock in Lakewood, CO.

Vince Neil (Lead Singer of Motley Crue) has family in the area. Vince’s son, Neil Wharton lives in area with his wife Marie and their son Trace. The Wharton’s, like everyone else, are very saddened by the Aurora theater shooting. Especially since it was personal. One of the victims in the shooting was Rebecca Wingo, a friend Marie Wharton knew well. “She was a single mom, she has two beautiful little girls, five and nine,” Marie Wharton said to local CBS news affiliate. Neil and Marie quickly helped put a concert together that will benefit the shooting victims and their families.

“You feel helpless in that you just want to help, and you don’t know how to, and this is the way he and I both came up with how to help these people,” Marie said.

Neil’s band “The Rock N Roll Junkies“- A Tribute to Motley Crue, will be performing at this event along with seven other local bands. “We kind of put the call out to the rock n community, which is our friends…Every penny that we raise, everything that we make goes directly to the victims’ families and that’s the least that we could do,” Neil said.

The event is called “Rockfest for Aurora” and will begin at 1pm on end at 10pm, this Sunday. “We want everybody to just come together and be a big family, and that’s what we are, a big Colorado family,” Neil said.

KISS and Motley Crue have donated signed guitars. The Nuggets, Rockies and Denver Broncos have all made donations as well as numerous local businesses. There will also be raffles and a silent auction!
